Its just a few days into December and, already, the rhythm of life has shifted. We are on the downward slope of 2014, and life is moving faster, and more slowly, all at once. For the past few holiday seasons, I have observed that this is a time when many travel, when family gatherings, shopping and social obligations fill the calendar, and yoga class attendance ebbs and flows. For me, this is the perfect time to get away, recharge, reset, deepen my own practice and studies, and bid 2014 a fond farewell. Beginning Wednesday December 10, I will be traveling; and an “abbreviated” holiday schedule will be offered at Blue Hen Yoga, under the capable guidance of new BHY teacher, Kelly McHood: Wednesdays at 1pm; Saturdays at 8am; and Sundays at 10am. From 12/24 through January 1st, Blue Hen Yoga will be closed, to make space for your holiday revelry. On January 2, 2015, the abbreviated holiday schedule (Wed at 1pm, Saturday at *:30 am and Sunday at 10am) returns (through 1/17). My other “baby,” Free Akron Yoga will continue, uninterrupted through the holidays, on Tuesday nights at 7pm, Church of Our Saviour, Episcopal, on the corner of Crosby and Oakdale, in West Hill.
I will be back, and the full/regular schedule will resume, on January 17, 2015. A new cycle of “Yoga Basics” (for beginners, those returning from some time away from the mat, and those looking to refine their practice) will begin on January 19, 2015. Watch for special deals, for getting your practice up and running, in the new year!
Until “next year,” know that the divine light in me sees and honors the divine light in you. I wish you peace and love and much prosperity in the new year. And as life speeds up around the holidays, I hope you will take some time to slowwww down!
I will be teaching class Sunday 12/7 at 10am and Monday 12/8 (Basics) at 5- hope you’ll drop in!
Om, shanti, peace~

If there’s one thing we can count on in this life, its change! Change is coming to Blue Hen Yoga…and its awesome change! Starting May 1, BHY will be located at 109 N Highland Avenue, in the Heart of Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood! The new space is part of a charming residence, with a beautiful history, and a sweet and peaceful energy. Plenty of street parking, and an easy walk for everybody who calls The Square “home!” Just in time for Farmer’s Market season, this new place is easily walkable from many Square attractions, including Angel Falls, The Market Path, the library and Aladdin’s!
The class schedule will remain exactly the same…with the possibility of adding additional classes, when the time comes. Here’s the current schedule:
All regularly scheduled classes are $12. Coming up…workshops on Yoga Philosophy, Ayurveda…and more!
I hope you’ll join me this week, to sample the new space and enjoy some yoga time. As we continue to practice together, our experience on the mat begins to overflow into the rest of our lives. Getting in touch with our bodies and our breath, quieting our minds, we find ourselves moving closer to who we truly are, what we truly value; and this process can deepen our experience of life, relationships, purpose and good health. More and more, we begin to trust our hearts, connect with others and feel good.
Om, shanti, peace, everybody~
